OwnersBox has three distinct game types, each very different and doesn’t all involve crafting lineups like regular daily fantasy sports.
As well as traditional DFS, similar to what you’d find on the likes of pioneering sites DraftKings and FanDuel, OwnersBox also has game types that are simple for newer players to enter.
All three OwnersBox game types are detailed below, along with information on how to play.
Game Types
Player Picks
Player picks are much like a parlay in sports betting but with less choice. OwnersBox gives you a projected total for players in a specific statistic, and you simply decide whether you think they’ll go over or under it.
You need to make between two and six picks to enter a contest, and the payout is a set multiplier determined by how many players you pick.
Two successful picks pay out 3x, three payout 6x, four pay out 10x, five at 20x, and six correct are 35x.
If you want to hedge your contest entry, you can choose the Protected Picks entry when you’re making your entry. This pays slightly less than the multipliers above, but if all your picks except one are correct.
Salary Cap
The salary cap is the DFS game style many are used to, and it involves creating a lineup of the players available while staying below the $50,000 salary cap.
Each player has a value relative to their ability and expected points, and each contest also requires you to adhere to positions, so you can’t just choose the best players regardless of where they play in real life.
Some sports have more specific positions than others. For example, MLB contests allow you to choose infielders and outfielders regardless of specific position within that, whereas NFL contests require running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends.
Lightning Lineups
OwnersBox Lightning Lineups is the easiest way to play daily fantasy sports as it simply requires you to select one of three pre-selected lineups, each of which consists of three players.
Your objective is to pick the lineup you think will score the most fantasy points, with a 2x payout on offer if you choose successfully.
You can add multiple lineups to the same entry, up to a maximum of 10. Getting all 10 picks correct in their respective matchups pays out at 7.5x your entry fee.
OwnersBox Salary Cap
The salary cap for all four sports is $50,000, which only applies to OwnersBox Salary Cap games, making things very straightforward.
Your lineups in Salary Cap games must clock in at exactly $50,000 or less, with each player given an overall value that is decided by a player’s ability and the number of fantasy points they are expected to get.
There’s no salary floor, so you could pick the cheapest players available in each position to complete your lineup if you wanted to do that.
