Honor of Kings eyes expansion, to launch its Philippine league in 2025

Honor of Kings (HoK) is preparing to make a mark in the Philippine esports scene with the launch of its local league in 2025. According to a report from Philstar.com, the upcoming league will feature two competitive seasons: the Spring League commencing in April and the Fall League kicking off in August. These leagues are part of the broader strategy to create a thriving ecosystem for Filipino esports athletes, providing them opportunities to showcase their skills on a local and global stage.

Esports expansion targets local growth and engagement

The report quoted Level Infinite’s senior esports manager Angelica Neri saying this development presents more opportunities for esports athletes across the Philippines and kickstarting an ecosystem that welcomes all. She added that the local league provides an avenue to showcase the excellence of Filipino gamers and bring Honor of Kings to more audiences

In tandem with the global 2025 calendar, Honor of Kings will host its Season 3 Invitational from mid-February to mid-March. The competitive year will also feature local leagues in other regions, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brazil, along with global events such as the HOK Midseason Invitational during the Esports World Cup. The season will culminate in the HOK Global Championship, slated for late November to December.

As a precursor to the league, the Philippine Invitational is set to return, featuring renowned teams like Boom Esports and Blacklist International. Three additional teams will join the roster through open qualifiers in December, setting the stage for an exciting prelude to the 2025 season.

Honor of Kings Regional Wars finals scheduled for November 30

Meanwhile, the Honor of Kings Regional Wars Grand Finals will crown its first Philippine champions on November 30 at the Campus PlayFest 2024 in Quezon City, Metro Manila. Two amateur teams, Alpha and Eureka, will face off in a high-stakes best-of-five series to claim the title. The winning team will receive a cash prize of PHP50,000 (€815) and realme products of the same value, while the runners-up will take home PHP25,000 (€407.5) in cash and PHP25,000 (€407.5) in products.

The Campus PlayFest, where the grand finals take place, is a two-day event combining esports, technology, and workshops designed for university students. For those unable to attend, the Grand Finals will be streamed live on realme’s official Facebook page, ensuring that the action reaches a broader audience.
