KSA push register for problem gamblers

As a result of the Remote Gambling Act, the KSA says there will be a Central Register of Exclusion of Games of Chance – called Cruks.

News rules have been unveiled by the Dutch gaming regulator, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), which state that players on the Cruks register will be involuntarily excluded from certain forms of gambling.

From 1 October, companies must identify whether a player is on the Cruks register before allowing them to play. The Central Register of Exclusion of Games of Chance (Cruks) came into effect on April 1st of this year and has been described as ‘an important remedy for gambling addiction’ by the KSA.

Family members, employers or even gaming providers could submit a request for players to be involuntarily registered to this list.

“It should also be clear that less drastic measures will not help. We realise these are major decisions. That is why we have developed a careful procedure in the Policy Rules for Involuntary Enrolment,” the KSA explained.

They also removed what was believed to be a Facebook account organising illegal lotteries, noting that they’ve been focusing on this aspect of social media ‘for some time’. This KSA investigation led to the first time an account was deleted as a result of said investigation.
