Industry leaders reflect on 2024 special for SiGMA News

The SiGMA Europe 2024 10th Anniversary Conference, which took place in Malta from 11-14 November, brought together over 27,000 representatives from the iGaming industry, including those who lead and guide the industry. As it was the last summit of the year, SiGMA News collected comments on the challenges and successes of the past year from the leaders of the companies that have managed to make a loud statement and present something new to the industry.

iGaming is evolving rapidly, and for many the main challenge is to keep up with this growth. SOFTSWISS takes a much broader view: it is important for us to understand where iGaming is going and to anticipate trends in order to strengthen our leadership position. This is why the company’s main focus has been on entering new promising markets – first and foremost the LatAm and African markets – as well as developing key areas and launching new solutions. 

In terms of new markets, a very important and successful step was the arrival of legendary racing driver Rubens Barrichello in our company. He holds the position of Independent Director for LatAm at SOFTSWISS and is helping us to develop this region.

On the new front, I would like to highlight our three recently launched products for the African market – a lottery betting platform, an offline betting solution and a horseracing betting module integrated with our sportsbook. We are also actively working in the social casino direction. We see the potential and believe this is a promising direction, which is why SOFTSWISS acquired a stake in a company developing social casino at the beginning of the year.

At the same time, it is important not to lose momentum in improving our existing solutions. For example, this year our games aggregator became the largest content hub in the industry – growing by almost 50 per cent in one year and now offering 23,500 games.

NuxGame continues to develop its platform aggressively, implementing modern technologies and tools that increase operational efficiency and improve player engagement. Over the past four months, we have implemented key updates to improve operator and player engagement.

We have enhanced the platform’s capabilities with Kubernetes, which provides high scalability, stability, and system performance. This enables operators to manage their infrastructure and handle large volumes of data efficiently, ensuring reliability and speed even under increasing load.

We have also focused on implementing tools for player engagement. New solutions include player-to-player chat, which promotes community building within the platform, and a referral programme that encourages new users through existing players. These tools help to increase audience engagement and loyalty, giving players more opportunities to interact and organically grow their customer base.

We have also improved our data analysis capabilities, including tools for handling cryptocurrency transactions. We can now analyse users’ cryptocurrency addresses and digital fingerprints to determine their status. If a player shows significant holdings or makes large transfers, our algorithm is able to classify them as a VIP customer requiring special attention. These tools can also identify anomalies associated with suspicious activity and prevent potential risks to the operator. These analytics provide operators with data to personalise their approach to VIPs and protect against interactions with high-risk customers.

We faced several challenges in 2024. One was market access in Brazil, where the approval process is still complex. The application process for the Romanian licence has been completed and we expect to receive it shortly. This will open up new opportunities for us to enter markets in Europe.

2024 was a very active year for Playfina Partners. We managed to launch three new casinos and sports under the Playfina brand. The company now has four projects in its portfolio: Playfina, Asino, Spinline, and Plangames.

This year, like other companies, we were faced with the blocking of PPC campaigns, which made it challenging to buy traffic on different geos. However, the focus was on SEO sources with quality traffic.

With the new Spinline casino, we have entered geos that were previously unavailable to us – Poland, Italy, Greece, Spain, Hungary, Estonia, Portugal, Italy, and Sweden.

Whether this will lead to mass adoption and more active use of cryptocurrencies as a payment method – time will tell. At the very least, Elon Musk now has even more opportunities for indirect marketing.
