A delegation from Ghana visited the MMH today for a tour of the SiGMA Europe expo, meeting with SiGMA Group founder Eman Pulis. The three day conference is taking place as part of Malta Week.
The delegation included H.E Barbara Akuorkor Benisa, Ghana High Commissioner to Malta and Board Chairman for Gaming, Francis Nyonyol. Representing Sammy Awuku, Director General of the National Lottery Authority of Ghana was Mr Bobby Babson. Also in attendance was Mr Ernest Boateng, Group CEO of Global Media Alliance, participating independently in his capacity as a leader in the media and communications industry.

Ghana’s gaming and lottery sectors, regulated by the Gaming Commission and National Lottery Authority (NLA), respectively, contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and are areas of interest for gaming industry investors. Statista projects that the online gambling market in Ghana will grow by 5.16% (2024-2029), resulting in a market volume of US$ 73.83m in 2029.

In her feature she spoke of the country’s potential to evolve into a hub for the gaming industry, remarking on the ease of doing business and forward thinking policies. Ghana has consistently topped the World Bank’s annual Ease of Doing Business ratings in West Africa. SiGMA Africa returns to the African continent next year for its third edition. The event will take place once again in Cape Town, at the Grand West Sun Exhibit – located conveniently within the GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World.

The 2025 event, which is powered by Alea, is expected to welcome 2,500 delegates, over 100 exhibitors and sponsors, 350 affiliates, and 550 operators. The conference is set to attract an impressive lineup of speakers, with over 150 gaming industry experts already confirmed to participate.
