Nick Marchington, a British poker pro, has cemented his place among poker’s top players by winning the NAPT Main Event at Resorts World Las Vegas, earning a prize of $765,200. The event saw 895 players battle it out over five days, between November 1 to 10, with Marchington delivering a commanding performance to secure the coveted trophy.
Marchington’s rise to poker stardom

The North American Poker Tour returned to Resorts World for its second tournament in as many years. Players from around the globe competed for a share of the $4 million prize pool. Marchington, hailing from Hornchurch, London, England, stood out with a consistent and strategic approach that saw him dominate from start to finish.

Marchington shared with Poker.org, “We sat down for heads-up, and on the break, I went through my normal routine, going for a walk on my own and just listening to music. I prepared myself for a potentially long heads-up match.
“And then I sat down, and the entire final hand, which was the only hand of heads-up, lasted about 45 seconds. It took me a while to actually process that I had won because it was all over in a flash.”
Marchington’s win is also a point of pride for the UK poker community. As one of the youngest players to achieve such consistent success, he serves as an inspiration to aspiring players.
