Pushing boundaries: Anthony Delia’s extraordinary fundraising feats
Anthony Delia is a 52-year-old former St. Paul’s Bay councillor who has been working closely with the SiGMA Foundation for over a year. Standing out thanks to his efforts with team integration and exceptional fundraising efforts, Anthony consistently puts his best foot forward to support the foundation’s causes.
Anthony’s approach to fundraising is unique in that he takes on not only the adventure expeditions of the SiGMA Foundation, but also undertakes more extreme and gruelling challenges to raise funds for the causes of the foundation as well as other charities.
His journey with the SiGMA Foundation began in 2023 when he and his wife, Claudette Delia, participated in the fifth edition of the Frances Camino de Santiago. They engaged fully in the training treks around Malta and Gozo, attended fundraiser events and very successfully conducted fundraising of their own. One of Anthony’s standout efforts was kayaking around the entire coast of Malta to raise funds for his part in the Camino de Santiago adventure expedition and a project in Colombia.

Soon after, Anthony and Claudette embarked on another challenge: the first SiGMA Foundation trek in Colombia, part of the G.L.O.W (Giving Little Ones Wings) project. This trek took them through the Lost City in Santa Marta of Northern Colombia situated within the Sierra Nevada mountains. Their participation was once again significant, with Anthony’s cheerful and light-hearted approach, along with Claudette’s support, they left a mark on the group, creating unforgettable memories.

Their dedication did not stop there. Six months after returning from Colombia, whilst the SiGMA Foundation’s preparations for the inauguration of the Women Empowerment project in Bonga, Ethiopia are ongoing, Anthony has been gearing up on a new fundraising physical challenge which he successfully completed; this was that of kayaking from Sicily to Malta, completing this feat of 94km all in under 19 hours.
